One member of the public was present. They reported they had not recently worked on Paradise Triangle, but said it was looking good and shrubs had been trimmed back well. They raised concerns about bright lighting at Tregath Industrial Estate, which they considered a hazard when driving from Camelford to Boscastle .

Reports
- Cornwall Councillor Mark Burnett: The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) fund opens on 16th January, with grants from £20,000 to £100,000 for “connecting communities” projects. Cornwall Council’s draft budget aims to balance 2026–27, but long-term gaps remain. Capital investments are being considered to reduce future costs.
- Parish Clerk: Reminded the council of the new Assertion 10 for 2025/26 audits (relating to data and website compliance).
Meeting Items
- Car Park – Toilets: Cllr Yates explained the CIC will receive a half payment in April 2026, then full payments annually in arrears to 2029. This means the CIC will not be able to sustain toilet and minibus operations through to April 2027 without new funding. It was clarified that car park permit charges remain at £2 because the CIC aims to cover costs, not profit.
- Highways – Waterpit Down crossroads: Police collision data and Cornwall Council records appear inconsistent. The council is seeking data from the collision team to understand causes and request mitigation measures.
- Civil Emergency and Contingency – Community Plan: Limited signups. A new year recruitment push is planned.
- Play Area: Quote received to secure the bench; quote awaited for reinstalling rockers. Meeting with Outdoor Play People scheduled to discuss options for the junior multi-play tower.
- Castle Site: Letter received from Cormac identifying a potentially dangerous tree; professional advice to be sought. Tree appears to have been intentionally damaged. Cllr Costello spoke to the Wellington about linking the site into the wider footpath network.
- Works Around the Village: Contractor hopes to resume work in January, focusing on the left-hand side of Paradise Triangle.
- Community Centre: Work has started. Project must be completed by 31st December 2025. £112,000 grant secured, around £50,000 spent so far. Estimated £2,000 overspend due to unforeseen issues (tree preservation, oil tank relocation, boiler upgrade).
- Parking – Old Road: Expression of Interest submitted to the Community Highways Improvement Programme 2026–2029.
- Council Documentation Review: Safeguarding Procedure adopted. 5-Day Planning Protocol adopted.
- Parish Clerk Appraisal: Form distributed to councillors; return to Cllr Hockin at next meeting.
- Speed Signs: Clerk to identify install dates; data to be retrieved from Camelford unit.
- Bus Shelter Cleaning: Clerk to post on Facebook seeking a cleaner for four times per year
