A Cormac Partnership Officer spoke about the success of the Paradise Triangle biodiversity project, explaining how wildflower meadows should be managed through annual mowing and seed dispersal to create a sustainable habitat.
A member of the public outlined early ideas for “Boscastle Fields” on land between Green Lane and Under Road, including a wildflower meadow, community garden, orchard and camping area. Councillors noted concerns regarding parking and toilet provision and advised that any formal comments could only be made through the planning process if an application is submitted.

No planning applications were received or considered at this meeting.
Correspondence
Councillors discussed the Paradise Road riverbank erosion and landslip, noting that the road had been made temporarily safe. As the issue may stem from historic works by others, Cornwall Council’s legal team is now involved. Councillors also agreed to arrange a site meeting before making a decision on proposed tree works at the Castle Site.

- Cornwall Councillor Mark Burnett: From 1st August, many Cornwall Council car parks will become cashless. Boscastle’s Cobweb Car Park will retain two cash/card machines alongside four cashless machines. Progress continues on the Community Highways Improvement Programme (CHIP). CCllr Burnett was thanked for his assistance with contacts relating to the Riverside Walk project.

Meeting Items
- Biodiversity / Rewilding: Following advice from Cormac, the Council will review future grass-cutting arrangements for Paradise Triangle to better support the establishment of the wildflower meadow.
- Car Park – Toilets: Rather than providing a further grant, the Council agreed to pay the public toilet cleaning costs for June, July and August, subject to invoices being addressed to the Parish Council, helping the Boscastle CIC while it awaits levy payments from Cornwall Council.
- Highways: No further updates.
- Community Emergency Plan: Good progress continues on the Community Emergency Plan and wider resilience arrangements. The Council approved funding for the printing and delivery of information packs and invitations for the Community Emergency & Resilience Open Day, to be held on Thursday 15th October at the Boscastle Community & Recreation Centre.
- Website & Communications: A new welcome message has been recorded for the Parish Council telephone system.
- Neighbourhood Priority Statement: Cornwall Council has confirmed registration of the Parish Council’s interest in preparing a Neighbourhood Priority Statement.
- Play Area: Monthly inspection identified only minor issues. The repaired fence post has been completed, with the Council agreeing to write a letter of thanks to the volunteer who carried out the work. Plans continue to reposition the existing rocker alongside the repaired unit.
- Castle Site: Monthly inspection found no issues to report.
- Works Around the Village: Thanks were given to Cllr Hockin for cleaning the bench at Paradise Triangle Copse.
- Community Centre: Building works are now complete, with only Building Control sign-off remaining.
- Riverside Walk: The working group continues to make steady progress.
- Bus Shelter: Cleaning has now been completed.
