Planning Considered
- PA26/05324 – Application for Permission in Principle for the construction of up to four dwellings at The Arthurian Centre, Slaughterbridge, Camelford.
- PA26/05316 – Extension to form a new entrance, enlarged balcony walkway, replacement windows and doors, Juliet balcony and associated works at The Old Stables, Boscastle.
Correspondence
The Council agreed to thank a resident for their community spirit following a litter-related email. Concerns about the cutting of the Paradise Triangle biodiversity area will be followed up with the contractor. An enquiry regarding jet skis in Boscastle Harbour will be referred to the Harbour Master, and the Council agreed to respond to the North Cornwall Transport Survey.
Reports
- Cornwall Councillor Mark Burnett: Reported that the Geothermal Planning Appeal has been approved. Information was also provided about the new Trevalga, Tintagel and Boscastle Fund, offering grants of up to £1,000 for personal development. A Community Area Partnership transport meeting will take place in September, and further discussions are planned regarding proposed parking changes outside the doctors’ surgery and on New Road.
- Chairman: Raised concerns about vegetation overgrowing pavements throughout the parish.
- Parish Clerk: Reminded councillors to complete and return their Register of Interests forms.
Meeting Items
- Biodiversity / Rewilding: No further update.
- Car Park – Toilets: Boscastle CIC has now received the delayed April payment from Cornwall Council, with the next payment expected in September. Councillors also discussed future priorities for the CIC.
- Highways: Concerns were raised that some junctions have poor or missing road markings, reducing visibility and safety. Areas of concern will be reported to Cornwall Council.
- Community Emergency Plan: Work has now moved from developing the plan to preparing for the Community Emergency & Resilience Open Day on Thursday 15th October. Household emergency leaflets have been designed and printed, a parish-wide resident mailing is being prepared, and two public information campaigns will run during September. The Council approved an initial £2,000 budget for the event, including emergency grab bag displays, venue hire, promotional materials and refreshments. The working group has also been invited to present its work at the Whole Community Resilience Conference in September.
- Website & Communications: The Parish Council telephone answering service is now operational, with additional website features being explored.
- Neighbourhood Priority Statement: The working group is due to meet in the coming weeks.
- Play Area: Monthly inspection found no significant issues. Minor remedial works identified during the recent RoSPA inspection are being followed up with the equipment supplier, and arrangements are being made to reinstall the repaired rockers.
- Castle Site: A fire had been lit on the lower section of the castle mound, with litter left behind and a picnic bench damaged. The Council will arrange repairs to the bench, seek professional advice regarding a damaged tree, and prepare a public notice encouraging respect for public spaces.
- Community Centre: Building works are now complete with only building control sign-off remaining.
- Riverside Walk: The working group continues to progress the project.
- Bus Shelter: Cleaning has now been completed.
