During the summer of 2021 I had a short conversation in a field, on the stiches whilst walking my dogs. I was told that in the past there had been a craft group in Boscastle which had been based in the Village Hall and my friend then went on to tell me, in a pointed way, that she would leave that thought with me and off she went.
I stood there with the dogs for a few minutes, thinking what did she mean by that?
But from that moment on an idea grew in my head and I decided we could have a group again and hence was born Chatty Craft.
The first Chatty took place on 7th August 2021 in Boscastle Village Hall and we have never looked back. It is an amazingly simple concept; we are a group of people who enjoy crafting in every hue and color. Painting, needlework, knitting, felting, flower arranging quilting and anything else you can imagine. The talent within our group is astounding, we have very experienced crafters and those just starting out on their crafting journey. Everybody is happy to share their skills, teach, encourage each other and act as a sounding board for new ideas. It is a comprehensive crafting forum.
There is a particularly good reason we are called “Chatty Craft,” we can craft but Oh Boy! Can we chat. We are a very friendly bunch of people and are always there to support each other no matter what may be happening in our lives. I think the social interaction and friendship we offer is our grates asset. How we develop and decide what we want to do is completely steered by everyone in our group and everyone has a voice.
We meet twice a month on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 10am in the Village Hall on Gunpool Lane and have a small sub of £3. Cake, Tea, and coffee are always served and from time to time we arrange outings or workshops.
I am happy to have started this warm and remarkable group.
