One following up concerns of the overgrown bramble and works to strim the Meadow area of the Castle site. One member advised they owned a piece of ground on Forrabury Hill adjacent to the Olde Stables and would like to apply to have a little cottage put on there. They would like a site meeting with the council to explain what they would like to do before applying for planning permission. One member commented on the problems faced by vehicles entering and exiting Potters Lane onto Tintagel Road caused by vehicles being parked opposite the road junction.

- Potters Lane junction – Clerk to produce an expression of interest for parking restrictions on Tintagel Road opposite Potters Lane.
- Dunn Street Lighting – Following Cornwall Council decision to turn off street lighting between 12 midnight and 5am. Clerk to reply advising Cornwall Council told the Parish Council without consultation of the switch off.
Reports
Chairmans Report – The person who is voluntarily picking up litter in the car park and harbour areas has been bitten twice by dogs, the owners one blamed the fact he was wearing a HiVis jacket and the other the dog didn’t like the black bin bag he was carrying.
Meeting items
- Slaughterbridge – The council will keep the radar activated speed sign in place a while longer as the traffic volumes should return to normal. Clerk to capture data from all speed sign before September meeting.
- Street Lighting – Cllr Yates reported he had been out after the switch off time and the residential areas have all the streetlights off while the main highways are fully lit. The black out in the residential areas is concerning.
- Highways – Cllr Bright raised concerns over the water runoff from near Tredorn Farm. The water from the fields goes into a pipe which goes under the road to a natural soak away which is blocked.
- Play Area – The motorcycle rocker has since the inspection broken and they would arrange a repair.
- Castle Site – Monumental project – Cllr Simmonds reported we have finally received a report from the discovery day. They are producing a report on the site which will include things from the geophysical survey but is wider in that it will interpret the castle within its landscape. Meadow Area – The area needs careful clearing based on the observations of hedgehogs and other wildlife in the area, before the consideration of resident licences can be fully considered.
- Works around the Village – Cllr Yates reported he is still in discussion with contractors to clear the weeds on pavements and gutters in some residential areas. Cllr Edwards reported a buddleia is growing out over the pavement near the bus shelter.
- Approved contractors – The clerk had drafted an advert inviting various contractors to register an interest for small works around the village.
- Switching from copper telephone network to internet telephone network – Cllr Yates reported he and Cllr Hockin met with Cornwall Council emergency manager who has referred the issues experienced recently during a power outage up into government. BT have responded recognising there is a problem however the end user needs to request individually from their telephony provider a battery backup.
- Closure Intention – New Road & Gunpool Lane, Boscastle – The council are concerned about this full closure for obvious reasons. The council will continue to lobby the operator to do the work under traffic lights.
