Mackerel were thin this year and we saw more on the fish finders than in the boats. The season came to a close early because of poor weather in late July and early August. However, and surprisingly, we saw a flat spell in late October and early November which made for some late of the year fishing in very small craft by myself and Jay Travers. Vicar Michael Parsons caught a big squid off Short Island which went to the Rocket Store, and he then lost the line to what was perhaps a shark or a bigger tuna!
