The Annual Parish Meeting is on Thursday 27th March 2025 at 7:00pm in the Village Hall.
With a Chairman’s welcome and reports from our MPs and Cornwall Councillors, community considerations are on the agenda. This year, with the future of Boscastle’s public toilets is uncertain, and the decision about what happens next could be in your hands. Now, Cornwall Council has withdrawn this funding, leaving a significant shortfall. Without a solution, the toilets could close.
To prevent imminent closure, the Parish Council has allocated up to £12,000 in its 2025/26 budget from the council tax precept. This equates to an annual charge of £22.46 per Band D household in the parish.
The Annual Parish Meeting is your chance to discuss this issue, share your views, and vote on the best way forward. Unlike Parish Council meetings, where only councillors can vote, this meeting is open to all electors of Forrabury and Minster Parish, giving you the chance to influence what happens next.
At the meeting, the parish can discuss possible ways forward, including:
🔹 Parish Council support – Should the Parish Council contribute funding from the council tax precept? If so, how much?
🔹 Community and business contributions – Can local businesses and the community help raise additional funds?
🔹 Cornwall Council advocacy – Should we push Cornwall Council to reinstate the car park levy?
🔹 Long-term sustainability – What solutions would ensure the toilets remain open for the future?
This is an essential community facility, and the decision on its future needs input from you. No decisions have been made yet — this meeting is where the discussion happens, and where electors can vote on what should be done.
