The Parish of Forrabury & Minster with Trevalga is pleased to announce that the diocese of Truro has confirmed that a new Rector for the Parish, and Benefice as a whole, will be appointed at the end of August 2025.
Between the retirement of the prior Vicar and the formal appointment of our new Rector, the Rectory has been worked on to make it compliant with current Governmental regulations.
We are aware that there have been local concerns about the expenditures on the Rectory, especially at a time when we have been seeking funds to repair the church of St Symphorian, commonly known as Forrabury. The repairs to the Rectory are made with money coming from the Diocese of Truro, in readiness for the new Rector and family.
It’s important to understand that the Rectory is the responsibility of the Diocese. However, the church building, and its repair, are the responsibility of the local community and any repairs on the church building are dependent on funds raised by the local community. Without repairs, the church will fall into disrepair and may have to become closed. As custodians of the church and knowing how strongly the community feels about Forrabury church, this is something we wish to avoid at all costs.
