At 6:11pm on Saturday 27th July, multiple Coastguard teams, including Boscastle Coastguard, were called to assist in the dramatic rescue of two people cut off by the tide near Greenaway.
The Rock RNLI Lifeboat arrived on scene at the same time and initially attempted a water recovery. However, due to challenging sea conditions, a rope rescue was deemed the safest approach. Boscastle Coastguard and HM Coastguard Padstow supported the operation on the cliffside.
A cliff technician was lowered to reach the stranded individuals, working in difficult conditions with large breaking waves and a precarious cliff face. Both casualties were successfully recovered one at a time and brought to safety.
This incident is a serious reminder of how quickly the tide can change, particularly around coves and sandbars. Even experienced walkers can be caught out.

- If you see someone in danger on the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
