Cornwall Council is preparing a new Local Plan, which will guide what can be built and where across the county over the next 20 years. The plan will shape our homes, schools, transport links, green spaces, and the way our communities adapt to climate change.
This is more than just paperwork – the Local Plan sets the rules that planning officers and committees must follow when deciding on applications. From the number of new houses a parish may see, to how green space is protected, to what standards new developments must meet, the Plan is the foundation for all future planning decisions.
That’s why your voice matters. If residents don’t engage, the plan risks being written without reflecting the realities of life in rural North Cornwall. By sharing your views now, you can help ensure Boscastle and neighbouring parishes are properly represented – balancing the need for affordable housing, jobs, and infrastructure with the protection of our countryside, heritage, and community life.
