Forrabury & Minster Parish Council is continuing its work to develop a new Community Emergency Plan, designed to help support the parish during incidents such as flooding, power cuts, telecoms failures, or severe weather.
As part of this work, we are building a clearer picture of the local resources and practical skills that already exist within our community.
Could you or your business help in an emergency?
We are not asking anyone to be “on call”, and we are not creating duties or obligations.
Instead, we want to understand what useful equipment, spaces, or skills might be available if the plan were activated.
Some examples include:
- Sheltered or working spaces that could be used temporarily for coordination or storage
- Generators, heating equipment or lighting that could support residents in a power outage
- Trades and practical skills — such as electricians, builders, plumbers, or tree surgeons
- Communications tools, including satellite phones or two-way radios
- Vehicles that could safely reach harder-to-access areas (where competent, insured and appropriate to use)
This information simply helps the Parish Council understand what assets already exist within the parish.
If an emergency occurred, any equipment or assistance would only ever be used:
- by people acting within their competence,
- safely,
- and under their own insurance where specialised or powered equipment is involved.

Every local resource — no matter how small — helps improve the parish’s ability to respond quickly and recover safely when it matters most.
