Changes happening this month at Boscastle National Coastwatch Institution (NCI). After 10 years of dedicated service, Chris Evans is standing down as Station Manager. Under Chris’ leadership the Boscastle NCI team improved their capabilities and professionalism. The team would like to say a huge “thank you”, Chris will be a very hard act to follow, we are pleased to say Chris isn’t leaving the organisation and will remain a very talented and dedicated watchkeeper.
Peter Lakie assumes the position of Station Manager and is looking forward to working closely with the crew of 31 dedicated volunteers, all committed to ensuring the safety of marine and coast users in our area.
National Coastwatch is a charity staffed and managed by volunteers whose mission is to help save lives at sea and around the UK coastline. If you, a family member or friend uses the coastal waters or the shoreline – maybe canoeing, fishing, boating, swimming or even walking on our beautiful but sometimes treacherous coastline – we are watching and keeping you safe.
NCI is always looking for volunteers to train as watchkeepers. No particular experience is needed. Full training is provided one to one, on the job, by a dedicated trainer. Ideally 4 hours of commitment per week.
