Work on the extension to the Boscastle Community & Recreation Centre continues to make steady progress, despite the challenging weather over recent months.
The groundworks phase is now largely complete, including new foundations, drainage improvements, and structural preparations. Concrete works were successfully completed before Christmas, allowing the project to move fully into the superstructure stage. Since then, steelwork has been installed, blockwork is well advanced, and preparations are underway for the next structural elements of the build.
While the exceptionally wet winter has caused some delays and required additional work below ground, these issues have now been resolved, and the focus has shifted firmly towards building upwards. The extension is expected to run into mid-February, after which attention will turn to fitting out and bringing the new space into use.
Alongside the extension, the Centre has also invested in long-term sustainability improvements, including solar panels, battery storage, and a new electric heating system, helping reduce running costs and support the Centre’s role as a resilient emergency community hub.
The Trustees would like to thank the local community for their patience and support while the works continue. Once complete, the extension will provide improved facilities, increased storage, and greater flexibility for community activities and events.
