There are no confirmed cases of meningitis in Cornwall, but in light of the Kent outbreak it’s important to know the signs so you can act quickly.
Meningitis is rare but very serious. Know the symptoms so you can act fast:
- a rash that doesn’t fade when pressed
- a sudden high fever
- severe headache
- stiff neck
- vomiting or diarrhoea
- being very drowsy or difficult to wake
Not everyone will have every symptom. If you think someone may have meningitis, don’t wait. Call 999 or go straight to A&E. If you’re unsure, call NHS 111.
