- Cornwall Councillor Mark Burnett: Expression of Interest for CIL funding (Village Hall & Community Centre) was unsuccessful due to oversubscription. Over 400 applications sought £27 million of funding.
- Chairman: No further updates.
- Parish Clerk: Monthly subscription services (e.g. Starlink and Microsoft) require card payments. Council agreed to request a debit card for the current account to manage these payments.
Meeting Items
- Annual Governance & Accounting Statements were reviewed and approved, with no conflicts of interest declared regarding the external auditor.
- Car Park – Toilets: No further update reported.
- Highways: A number of potholes have been reported across the village.
- Civil Emergency and Contingency: Core Community Emergency Plan approved for submission to Cornwall Council. Work will now progress on detailed appendices. Meeting with neighbouring parishes was positive, helping to link resources. Additional data sources identified for rainfall and river monitoring. Plans in place for backup power (generator) at the EE mast.
- Website & Communications: Council telephone number scheduled to transfer on 21st April.
- Play Area: Monthly inspection passed. Evidence of antisocial behaviour (litter/beer cans) noted. New multi-play equipment installation scheduled for week commencing 20th April (partial closure required). Council considering installation of a rubbish bin in the play area.
- Castle Site: Monthly inspection satisfactory. Bin emptied.
- CIL Funding Application: Expression of Interest did not progress to the next stage.
- Works Around the Village: Work paused due to bird breeding season. Council discussed biodiversity/rewilding at Paradise Triangle; to be reviewed further at next meeting. Public communication to be prepared.
- Community Centre: Total funding now at £121,375. Extension is watertight; windows and doors installation pending.
- Riverside Walk: National Trust has approved installation of benches (with conditions). Additional mowing permissions agreed. Next step is engagement with Cornwall Council and Cormac regarding maintenance responsibilities.
- Bus Shelter: Initial cleaning completed; further cleaning still required.
- Council Documentation Review: Community Awards Policy updated to align with GDPR and include communication with unsuccessful nominees.
