The Trustees of Boscastle Community & Recreation Centre are pleased to report that the Community Centre extension project has now reached completion.
The project has delivered much-needed additional storage space, improved facilities, upgraded heating, solar power generation, battery storage and improvements that will help secure the long-term sustainability of the Centre for future generations.
The extension project was completed following the award of £121,375 in grant funding and £13,125 funded by the Centre capital reserves. The project was supported by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund through Cornwall Council’s Community Levelling Up Programme, with additional support from the Cornwall Community Capacity Fund.
Like many construction projects, the scheme faced challenges along the way, including difficult ground conditions, drainage issues, utility diversions and periods of poor weather. Thanks to the determination of everyone involved, these challenges were overcome and the project has been successfully delivered.
The Trustees would like to thank Centre users, neighbours and the wider community for their patience and support throughout the construction period. We recognise that building works inevitably create some disruption, and we are grateful for the understanding shown while the improvements were carried out.
We would also like to thank the many people who worked behind the scenes to bring the project to fruition, including our funders, professional advisers, volunteers and supporters who helped secure funding, manage the project and guide it through to completion.
Special thanks are extended to Luke and the team at Dingle Construction for their professionalism, flexibility and open communication throughout the build, and to Tim Simmons and The Bazeley Partnership for their continued support, technical expertise and contract administration.
The Centre is now entering an exciting new chapter. The improved facilities will help support existing activities and provide opportunities for new groups, events and services to benefit the community in the years ahead.
The Trustees look forward to welcoming users into the completed facilities very soon.
