Herbs and spices…the culinary caviar of past ages, they now come in little 40g jars and we give their origins little thought as we shake them into our food. But they are so much more than food: medicine, beauty aids, air fresheners, laundry scents and even the stuff of magic.
Local expert Jane Hanscomb arrived at Marshgate Hall on Thursday to talk to the Mowesi Marshgate and told us all about these fascinating plants and their history and use, and passed round aromatics for us to handle and smell.
