Walkers on the common may have noticed that a new bench has been installed on Forrabury Common just outside the churchyard gate.
After the Boscastle Blowhole magazine ceased publication at the end of 2022, there was still some money in the coffers. The editorial team had hoped to pass it on to members of a new publication team. Sadly, after waiting over 3 years, no-one had offered to take on the task.
The team decided to purchase a memorial bench for the use of everyone in the village as well as for visitors to rest a while and enjoy the spectacular vista across the common to towards the sea. The siting was discussed with the National Trust rangers and it is hoped that the chosen location is also accessible to those with reduced mobility.
A big thank you to Chris and Jen from the National Trust who installed the bench and who aim to return before the cattle arrive to landscape the area.
The Boscastle Blowhole first appeared in Spring 1993 and, over almost 30 years, became a much-loved record of village life before its final edition was published in Winter 2022. Every edition has now been preserved online and can be viewed through the Boscastle Village Archives website.
