North Cornwall Police Team strengthened with additional resources

Residents across North Cornwall are expected to see an increased police presence as Devon & Cornwall Police continue to strengthen neighbourhood policing across the area.

Speaking at a recent North Cornwall Area Partnership meeting, Sector Inspector Greg Hodgkiss highlighted that additional resources are helping to enhance local policing, enabling officers to spend more time engaging with communities, tackling local concerns and responding proactively to issues that matter most to residents.

The investment forms part of the force’s wider commitment to neighbourhood policing, with an emphasis on visible patrols, problem-solving and building stronger relationships with local communities.

For communities such as Camelford and Boscastle, neighbourhood policing plays an important role not only in responding to crime, but also in preventing it. Officers work alongside parish councils, schools, businesses and community groups to address issues such as anti-social behaviour, rural crime, fraud prevention and road safety.

Inspector Hodgkiss explained; “The Roads Policing Team were based at Launceston until the ‘austerity’ period, so it’s really good to have them finally returning – albeit for an initial trial period of six months. They’re an experienced Sergeant and four officers, all of whom have advanced driving and collision investigation skills and access to high-performance vehicles. They also know the area really well and are already enjoying significant success locally.

Inspector Hodgkiss has encouraged residents to continue reporting concerns and sharing information with their local Neighbourhood Policing Team, helping officers to target resources where they are needed most.

Boscastle Sound welcomes the opportunity to share updates from Devon & Cornwall Police and hopes to feature further information about neighbourhood policing and community safety in future editions.
